Germany Sees a Slight Decrease in Unemployment Rate

The Bundesagentur fuer Arbeit (BA) reported on Wednesday that Germany's unemployment rate slightly decreased to 6.3% in April from 6.4% in March.

Monthly and Yearly Unemployment Figures

In April, the number of unemployed German residents fell by 36,000 compared to the previous month but increased by 182,000 from the same month in 2024, totaling 2.9 million. Seasonally adjusted data shows a month-on-month increase of 4,000 in unemployment.

Underemployment Rate Also Shows Improvement

The underemployment rate, which includes individuals in labor market policies and those with short-term incapacity for work, was recorded at 7.7% or 3.6 million people. This represents a decrease of 53,000 from March but an increase of 69,000 compared to the previous year.
