The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has released its preliminary report, indicating a slight decrease in Germany's annual inflation rate to 2.1% in April, down from 2.2% in March. This subtle shift suggests a potential easing in price pressures within Europe's largest economy.

Monthly and Core Inflation Insights

On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a 0.4% increase. The core inflation rate, which excludes the volatile food and energy sectors, was recorded at 2.9%. Notably, food prices saw a 2.8% year-on-year increase, while energy prices decreased by 5.4%.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) showed a 2.2% rise annually and a 0.5% increase month-on-month, providing a broader perspective on inflation trends across the Eurozone.
