Schell, who has been a key figure in Intel's sales, marketing, and communications as the general manager and executive vice president, cited his desire to "pursue another career opportunity" as the reason for his departure. This resignation is the second major leadership change at Intel in recent months. Last month, Lip-Bu Tan was appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Pat Gelsinger, who retired in December.
