Germany's Inflation Eases Slightly in April

The annual inflation rate in Germany showed a modest decline to 2.1% in April, down from 2.2% in March, according to preliminary data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday. This slight decrease reflects the ongoing economic adjustments within the country.

Monthly CPI and Core Inflation Insights

On a month-on-month basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a 0.4% increase. The core inflation rate, which excludes the volatile food and energy sectors, was recorded at 2.9%, indicating underlying price pressures.

Food and Energy Prices: A Mixed Picture

Food prices saw a year-on-year increase of 2.8%, while energy prices dropped by 5.4%, showcasing the divergent trends within these essential sectors.
