March Sees a Surge in US Personal Spending: A 0.7% Increase Unveiled

US Personal Spending Rises in March

In a recent report by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, it was revealed that personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the United States saw a significant increase of $134.5 billion, or 0.7%, in March compared to the previous month.

PCE Price Index Trends

The PCE price index experienced a slight contraction of 0.1% in March, with a more notable decrease of 2.3% when compared to the same month last year. However, excluding the volatile food and energy sectors, the PCE showed a modest increase of 0.1%.

Income Growth Highlights

Personal income also showed positive growth, increasing by $116.8 billion or 0.5% in March. Disposable personal income (DPI) followed suit, rising by $102.0 billion, which translates to a 0.5% increase.
