US Chamber of Commerce Urges Trump Administration for Immediate Tariff Exclusions to Protect Small Businesses

Call to Action Against Economic Downturn

The US Chamber of Commerce has made a fervent appeal to the Trump administration, urging the swift establishment of a tariff exclusion process. This move aims to safeguard small businesses from potential irreparable harm and to prevent a looming recession.

Immediate Measures Requested

In a detailed letter, Suzanne Clark, the CEO of the Chamber, emphasized the urgency of the situation. "The Chamber requests the administration take immediate actions to save America's small businesses and stave off a recession," Clark wrote. The letter was addressed to key figures including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

Concerns Over Timing

The Chamber expressed deep concerns about the timeline, stating, "We are deeply concerned that even if it only takes weeks or months to reach agreements, many small businesses will suffer irreparable harm." This highlights the critical need for prompt action to mitigate the adverse effects on the economy.
