Vietnamese PM Calls for Increased US Aircraft and LNG Purchases to Stabilize Trade Relations

Trade Negotiations and Tariffs

At a recent governmental meeting, Vietnamese Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the importance of importing more US products, such as aircraft and liquefied natural gas (LNG), to maintain smooth trade relations. This comes as the Trump administration has temporarily suspended high reciprocal tariffs on Vietnam and other trade partners, setting a temporary rate of 10%.

Upcoming Bilateral Talks

A Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to visit the US this Thursday for crucial trade negotiations. The discussions aim to balance and reduce import duties between the two nations, ensuring a fair and beneficial trade environment.

Vietnam's Trade Aspirations

Vietnam is also pushing for the US to recognize it as a market economy and to ease restrictions on the export of high technologies. Prime Minister Chinh stressed that all negotiations must safeguard Vietnam's sovereignty, national security, and the welfare of its people, while fulfilling international commitments.
