Eurozone Inflation Holds Steady at 2.2% in April: A Deep Dive into the Numbers

According to a preliminary report by Eurostat released on Friday, the annual inflation rate in the eurozone remained unchanged at 2.2% in April, mirroring March's figures. The monthly inflation rate was recorded at 0.6%, indicating a steady economic climate.

Key Contributors to Inflation

The services sector led the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) with a significant 3.9%, followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco at 3%, and non-energy industrial goods at a modest 0.6%.

Core CPI Insights

The core CPI, which excludes volatile items such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, showed a year-on-year rise of 2.7% and a monthly increase of 1%. Estonia reported the highest inflation rate at 4.4%, while France experienced the lowest at just 0.8%.
