Stable Inflation Rates in the Eurozone

The euro area's annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 2.2% in April, mirroring March's figures, as per a preliminary report released by Eurostat on Friday. This stability in inflation rates provides a glimpse into the current economic climate within the Eurozone.

Monthly Insights and Sector Contributions

On a monthly basis, inflation saw a slight increase of 0.6%. The sectors contributing most significantly to the rise in the consumer price index (CPI) were services, which surged by 3.9%, followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco at 3%, and non-energy industrial goods at a modest 0.6%.

Core CPI and Regional Variations

The core CPI, which excludes volatile items such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, experienced a 2.7% year-on-year increase, with a 1% rise month-over-month. Regional disparities were evident, with Estonia recording the highest inflation at 4.4%, while France reported the lowest at 0.8%.
