The euro area's annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 2.2% in April, mirroring March's figures, as per a preliminary report released by Eurostat on Friday. The monthly inflation rate was recorded at 0.6%, indicating a steady economic climate.

Sector-Wise Contributions

Leading the increase in the consumer price index (CPI), the services sector surged by 3.9%. Not far behind, food, alcohol, and tobacco prices rose by 3%, with non-energy industrial goods contributing a modest 0.6%.

Core CPI Insights

Excluding volatile items like energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, the core CPI saw a year-on-year rise of 2.7% and a monthly increase of 1%. Estonia reported the highest inflation at 4.4%, while France experienced the lowest at 0.8%.
