March Sees a Surprising 4.3% Jump in US Factory Orders, Defying Expectations

US Factory Orders Experience Significant Growth in March

In a recent report released by the US Census Bureau, it was revealed that new orders for manufactured goods in the United States saw a notable increase of 4.3%, or $25.7 billion, reaching a total of $618.8 billion in March. This growth, however, slightly missed the mark set by analysts' expectations.

Shipments and Unfilled Orders: The data also showed a minor decrease in shipments by 0.1% to $596.2 billion from the previous month. On the other hand, unfilled orders enjoyed a 2% rise, climbing to $1,429.4 billion.

Inventories and Ratio: Inventories witnessed a slight increase of 0.1%, totaling $865.3 billion. The inventories-to-shipments ratio remained steady at 1.45, unchanged since February.
