March Sees a Surge in US Factory Orders: A 4.3% Increase Despite Slight Miss on Expectations

US Factory Orders Rise in March

In a recent report released by the US Census Bureau, new orders for manufactured goods in the United States experienced a significant monthly increase of 4.3%, amounting to $25.7 billion, reaching a total of $618.8 billion in March. This growth, however, slightly fell short of analysts' expectations.

Shipments and Unfilled Orders

While the surge in orders is a positive sign, shipments saw a minor decrease of 0.1% from the previous month, totaling $596.2 billion. On the other hand, unfilled orders showed a promising rise of 2%, climbing to $1,429.4 billion.

Inventories and Ratios

Inventories also experienced a slight increase of 0.1%, settling at $865.3 billion. The inventories-to-shipments ratio remained steady at 1.45, mirroring February's figures.
