Eurozone Holds Steady: Inflation Stagnates at 2.2% in April Amid Varied Sector Impacts

Eurozone Inflation Unchanged in April

According to a preliminary report by Eurostat released on Friday, the annual inflation rate in the euro area remained stable at 2.2% in April, mirroring March's figures. The monthly inflation rate was recorded at 0.6%.

Sectoral Contributions to Inflation

The services sector led the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) with a significant 3.9%, followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco at 3%, and non-energy industrial goods at a modest 0.6%.

Core CPI Insights

The core CPI, which excludes volatile items like energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, showed a year-on-year increase of 2.7% and a monthly rise of 1%. Estonia reported the highest inflation rate at 4.4%, while France experienced the lowest at 0.8%.
