Trump's Stance on TikTok's Future
In a recent interview with NBC News, President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of extending the June 19 deadline for ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, to sell its US assets. This move comes as negotiations continue without a finalized agreement.
A Warm Spot for TikTok
"I'd like to see it done... Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but I have a little warm spot in my heart for TikTok. TikTok is — it's very interesting, but it'll be protected. It'll be very strongly protected," Trump shared during his conversation on "Meet the Press with Kristen Welker".
Legislative Actions and Extensions
Despite legislative requirements for TikTok to cease US operations if ownership isn't transferred to a US entity, Trump has previously signed executive orders to delay such prohibitions. Last month, he approved a 75-day extension for negotiations and expressed openness to granting further extensions if necessary.
