Switzerland's Unemployment Rate Holds Steady at 2.8% in April, Youth Unemployment Sees Slight Decline

Swiss Unemployment Rate Remains Unchanged in April

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Switzerland was reported at 2.8% in April, mirroring March's figures and aligning with initial estimates, as per the latest data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

Rise in Unemployed Individuals

Switzerland witnessed an increase in the number of unemployed individuals, with 130,223 people out of work in April. This marks a 1.4% rise from March, equating to an additional 1,849 individuals. Compared to April 2024, unemployment surged by 23,144 people, a significant 21.6% increase.

Youth Unemployment Dips Slightly

The youth unemployment rate experienced a minor decrease, dropping by 0.1 percentage points to 2.5%, or 11,118 young individuals, compared to the previous month.

Job Availability Declines

April also saw a reduction in available jobs, with 40,887 positions recorded, down by 1,643 from March.
