French Industrial Production Shows Modest Growth in March
According to INSEE, France's statistical office, industrial production in the country experienced a 0.2% increase in March compared to February. This growth was primarily fueled by significant advancements in the transport equipment manufacturing sector, which saw a 3.1% rise.
Driving Forces Behind the Growth
The automotive sector played a pivotal role with a 3.3% boost, alongside a remarkable 9.6% surge in coking and refining activities. Despite these gains, the capital goods manufacturing sector faced a 0.6% decline, and energy production witnessed a substantial 2% drop.
Yearly Comparison Highlights Challenges
When compared to the previous year, manufacturing output decreased by 1%, and overall industrial production saw a 0.4% decline, indicating ongoing challenges in the sector.
