Eurozone and EU Witness a Significant 1.6% Drop in Producer Prices in March

Eurozone Producer Prices Decline in March

According to a preliminary report released by Eurostat on Tuesday, the producer price index (PPI) experienced a 1.6% decrease in both the Eurozone and the European Union in March compared to the previous month. Annually, the prices saw an increase of 1.9% in the euro area and 2.1% in the EU.

Sector-wise Analysis of Price Changes

In the Eurozone, the most significant monthly decrease was observed in energy prices, which fell by 5.8%. Conversely, prices for capital goods, durable consumer goods, and non-durable consumer goods saw increases of 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.5% respectively, while intermediate goods prices remained stable.

Similarly, in the EU, the largest monthly decline was in energy prices, dropping by 5.5%. Prices for intermediate goods and durable consumer goods rose by 0.1%, and non-durable consumer goods by 0.5%, with capital goods prices remaining unchanged.
