Eurozone and EU Producer Prices Decline in March
The producer price index (PPI) experienced a notable decrease of 1.6% in both the Eurozone and the European Union in March, as highlighted by a preliminary report from Eurostat this Tuesday. Annually, the figures tell a different story with producer prices increasing by 1.9% in the euro area and 2.1% across the EU.
Sector-wise Analysis of Price Changes
Energy prices led the decline, plummeting by 5.8% in the Eurozone and 5.5% in the EU. Contrastingly, prices for capital goods, durable consumer goods, and non-durable consumer goods saw modest increases, while intermediate goods prices remained stable in the Eurozone. The EU mirrored this trend with slight variations.
