
Significant Growth in German Factory Orders
In a promising sign for the German economy, seasonally and price-adjusted new factory orders increased by 3.6% in March compared to the previous month, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. This growth is further highlighted by a 3.8% rise compared to the same period last year.
Domestic and Foreign Orders on the Rise
The report detailed a 2.0% increase in domestic orders and a notable 4.7% jump in foreign orders. Specifically, orders from the euro area saw a modest 0.8% increase, while those from outside the Eurozone experienced a 3.4% rise.
Sector-Specific Highlights
Breaking down the numbers, the electrical equipment production sector led with a 14.5% surge, followed by machinery and equipment manufacturing at 5.3%. Other transport equipment and the pharmaceutical industry also showed impressive growth, with increases of 13% and 17.3%, respectively. The automotive industry reported a steady 2.5% growth.
