
UK Construction Sector Sees Slight Recovery
The United Kingdom's construction sector experienced a modest recovery in April, as reported by S&P Global. The construction Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) saw a subtle rise from 46.4 in March to 46.6 in April, indicating a slow but steady improvement.
Sector Performance Highlights
Civil engineering remained the weakest sector with a PMI of 43.1. Meanwhile, residential construction showed a slightly better performance at 47.1, followed by commercial building at 45.5.
Expert Insight
"Output levels continued to decline in April, but the rate of decrease slowed to its lowest in three months. This was attributed to slower reductions in residential building work and civil engineering activity," explained Tim Moore, Economics Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
