According to the latest Halifax House Price Index, the United Kingdom experienced a 3.2% annual growth in house prices this April, surpassing analysts' forecasts. A modest month-on-month increase of 0.3% was also recorded, with the average house price now standing at £297,781.

Amanda Bryden, Head of Mortgages at Halifax, commented on the market's resilience, stating, "The stamp duty changes earlier this year led to a flurry of transactions, yet prices remained remarkably stable over the past six months." She added, "Despite a slight cooling post-deadline, buyer activity remains robust, showcasing the market's strength amidst economic uncertainties and geopolitical risks."
