Vietnam's Commitment to Balanced Trade with the US

During a meeting with a delegation from the U.S. Congress’s U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, led by Chair Reva Price, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated Vietnam's dedication to a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateralism. He emphasized the country's "Four No’s" defense policy and its pursuit of an independent, self-reliant economy through proactive international integration.

Enhancing Bilateral Relations

PM Chinh expressed satisfaction with the growth of Vietnam-US relations and urged the U.S. to recognize Vietnam's market economy status, remove it from strategic export control lists, and enhance technology transfer. He highlighted the potential for balanced and sustainable trade ties through economic restructuring and diversification.

Regional Stability and Cooperation

On regional issues, the PM underscored Vietnam's consistent stance on resolving the East Sea issue peacefully, in line with international law, including UNCLOS. He called for U.S. support for ASEAN's efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Optimism for Future Collaboration

Reva Price, impressed by Vietnam's development, affirmed the country's importance as a regional partner to the U.S. The delegation echoed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, pledging support for Vietnam's market economy recognition and ongoing trade negotiations.
