Monthly Consumer Price Index Highlights

The consumer price index (CPI) showed a 0.2% increase month-on-month. The primary driver behind this uptick was the shelter category, which saw prices rise by 0.3%. Meanwhile, energy prices experienced a 0.7% increase, contrasting with a 0.1% decline in food prices.

Core CPI Trends

Excluding the volatile food and energy sectors, the core CPI rose by 2.8% compared to April 2024 and by 0.2% from the previous month, indicating a steady underlying inflation trend.
