Corporate Battle with National Security Implications
A heated dispute has erupted in the online travel sector, raising significant national security concerns. EaseMyTrip founder Nishant Pitti has accused rival MakeMyTrip of compromising the safety of defense personnel by allegedly sharing sensitive booking data through a platform with substantial Chinese ownership.
Allegations and Social Media Storm
In a provocative post on X (formerly Twitter), Pitti claimed that armed forces' discounted ticket bookings, which include Defense ID, route, and date, could inadvertently reveal troop movements to adversaries. Accompanying screenshots pointed fingers at MakeMyTrip's interface, though the company was not directly named.

MakeMyTrip's Firm Denial
MakeMyTrip swiftly denied the allegations, labeling them as "malicious" and "motivated." A spokesperson emphasized the company's Indian roots, its compliance with local laws, and its commitment to data privacy, without directly addressing the specifics of Pitti's claims.
Focus on Customer Service Amid Controversy
Despite the uproar, MakeMyTrip stated its intention to remain focused on serving its customers responsibly, choosing not to engage with what it considers baseless accusations.
