Italy's Inflation Climbs to 2% in April: Energy Prices Fuel the Rise

Italy's Inflation Rate Confirmed at 2% in April

According to the latest report released by Istat on Friday, Italy's annual inflation rate has been confirmed at 2% for the month of April. This marks a slight increase from March's 1.9%, with the monthly consumer price index (CPI) rise remaining steady at 0.2% as per the preliminary report.

Key Drivers Behind the Inflation Rise

The uptick in inflation is largely attributed to a significant jump in the prices of regulated energy products, which surged from 27.2% in March to 31.7% in April. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes energy and fresh food, was recorded at 2.1% on a yearly basis.
