France's Trade Deficit Expands in May

In a recent report released by the French External Trade Ministerial Statistical Office (DSECE), it was revealed that France's trade deficit reached a staggering €7.8 billion in May. This marks an increase of €0.4 billion from April's revised figures, highlighting ongoing challenges in the nation's trade balance.

Exports Decline While Imports Remain Steady

The report further detailed that exports saw a slight decline of €0.2 billion, dropping to €48.9 billion in May. On the other hand, imports remained unchanged at €56.7 billion, contributing to the widening deficit.

Energy and Manufactured Goods Balance

Interestingly, the energy balance stayed constant at a negative €4.2 billion. Meanwhile, there was a slight improvement in the manufactured goods balance, which improved by €0.2 billion to a negative €5.2 billion during the same period.
