Singapore Announces Generous Cash Payouts and MediSave Top-Ups for Over 1.5 Million Eligible Citizens

Eligibility and Payout Details

In a significant move to support its citizens, Singapore has announced that over 1.5 million Singaporeans aged 21 and above in 2025, earning up to S$39,000 for the 2024 assessment year and owning no more than one property, are eligible for cash payouts. These payouts are set at either S$850 or S$450, depending on the value of their property.

MediSave Top-Ups for Seniors

Additionally, about 690,000 eligible seniors aged 65 and above will benefit from MediSave top-ups under the GSTV – MediSave scheme. These top-ups, ranging from S$150 to S$450, are based on the recipients' age and home values and will be automatically credited into their MediSave accounts.

Adjustments to the GSTV Scheme

The GSTV scheme, initiated in 2012 to assist lower- and middle-income Singaporeans with GST expenses, has been adjusted this year to account for rising incomes. The Ministry of Finance has raised the assessable income threshold for cash payouts from S$34,000 to S$39,000, reflecting the growth in eligible recipients' incomes.

Note: A total of S$1.5 billion will be disbursed under the GSTV – Cash and GSTV – MediSave schemes this year, as part of the permanent GST Voucher scheme.
