Production Timeline Postponed
Panasonic Holdings Corp. has announced a delay in achieving full production capacity at its new electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Kansas. This decision comes in light of Tesla Inc., Panasonic's primary client, facing hurdles with sluggish sales figures.
Revised Goals Without a New Deadline
Originally, the company aimed to reach an annual production capacity of 30 gigawatt-hours by March 2027. However, this target has been pushed back, with Panasonic not providing a revised timeline for when this goal might be achieved.
Mass Production Still on the Horizon
Despite the delay, the Kansas facility, which stands as Panasonic's second major battery production site in the U.S. following Nevada, is still on track to commence mass production in the near future.
