UK Industrial Output Faces Monthly Decline

The United Kingdom's industrial production witnessed a 0.9% decrease in May, as reported by the Office for National Statistics. This downturn reflects a 0.3% annual drop, signaling potential challenges ahead for the UK's industrial sector.

Mining and quarrying led the decline with a significant 3.2% fall, closely followed by manufacturing, which saw a 1% reduction. Conversely, electricity and gas production experienced a modest 0.3% increase, while water supply and sewerage grew by 0.8%.
