Government Appoints R Doraiswamy as LIC's New MD & CEO
The government has officially appointed R Doraiswamy as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), marking a new chapter for the state-run insurance behemoth. This decision comes after the approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

A Veteran with 38 Years of Experience
Doraiswamy brings to the table an impressive 38 years of diverse experience within LIC, spanning operations, marketing, technology, and insurance academics. His extensive background is expected to steer LIC towards greater heights.
Academic and Professional Excellence
With a degree in Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University and as a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India, Doraiswamy's academic prowess complements his professional journey. His roles have ranged from Executive Director to Regional Manager, showcasing his versatile leadership.
Looking Ahead
Doraiswamy's tenure is set for three years, until August 28, 2028, when he turns 62. His appointment follows the interim leadership of Sat Pal Bhanoo, who took over after Siddhartha Mohanty's term ended.
LIC continues to stand as India's largest life insurer, now under the guidance of Doraiswamy and supported by four managing directors.
