Scale AI Inc. Announces Significant Workforce Reduction
In a move that has caught the attention of the tech industry, Scale AI Inc. has informed its employees of a decision to reduce its workforce by 200 jobs, which accounts for 14% of its total staff. This announcement was made through a company memo, as reported by CNBC.

Strategic Adjustments for Future Growth
Jason Droege, the interim CEO of Scale AI, explained that the layoffs are part of a broader strategy to eliminate "excessive bureaucracy" and make the company more agile. "These changes will make us more nimble - enabling us to react more quickly to shifts in the market and customer needs," Droege stated. He also highlighted plans to "significantly increase headcount" in the company's application business units in the latter half of 2025.
Meta's Significant Investment in Scale AI
The workforce reduction comes on the heels of a major investment by Meta, which agreed to acquire a 49% stake in Scale AI for $14.3 billion in June. This deal also saw Meta hiring Scale AI's then CEO, Alexandr Wang, marking a significant moment in the partnership between the two companies.
