Rivian Revives Georgia Factory Plans with $6.6B Energy Loan, Aims for 2026 Groundbreaking

Rivian's Strategic Move in Georgia

Rivian Automotive Inc. is set to restart its ambitious project to build a new factory in Georgia, with groundbreaking scheduled for early 2026. This development comes after securing a significant financial boost.

Project Horizon: A Leap Towards Sustainable Mobility

The automaker has already invested over $80 million into the project, creating 46 full-time jobs to date. Preparations will escalate in August with the installation of "deep utilities," followed by "vertical construction" in the first quarter of the next year.

Financial Backing from the US Energy Department

In November 2024, Rivian announced a conditional loan of up to $6.6 billion from the United States Department of Energy. This loan, finalized just before President Donald Trump's term began, is earmarked for the development and construction of Project Horizon, Rivian's electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Stanton Springs North, Georgia.
