K-Water and Ministry of Environment Launch International Carbon Reduction Business Model
Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, unveiled the 'Onsite Gas International Carbon Reduction Business Model Professional Forum' at the Seoul Space Arena Seoul Yeoksam Center on the 18th. This forum aimed to strategize the execution of international carbon reduction businesses and model their expansion, attracting about 70 experts from various fields including technology and finance.

International Carbon Reduction: A Strategic Approach
International carbon reduction businesses, aligned with the Paris Agreement, represent a collaborative effort among nations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and gain mutual recognition for these efforts. This approach is crucial for achieving national carbon reduction targets, especially in scenarios where domestic efforts alone are insufficient.
K-Water's Global Initiatives
Since 2024, K-Water, as the international carbon reduction business promotion agency under the Ministry of Environment, has initiated 11 projects across 4 countries. Notable projects include urban resource regeneration in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, and water resource regeneration in Uzbekistan, showcasing diverse local adaptation models.
Innovative Projects in Kyrgyz Republic
At the forum, K-Water introduced the basic construction results of the urban resource regeneration project in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. This project focuses on establishing urban infrastructure in suburban areas to reduce onsite gas emissions, with a total investment of approximately 1.264 billion won. It encompasses five major onsite gas reduction technologies, aiming for comprehensive support.
Expert Discussions and Future Directions
The forum also featured expert discussions, highlighting the need for a systematic support system to link international carbon reduction businesses with large-scale projects. Participants proposed various execution plans to achieve this goal.
K-Water's Vision for Global Leadership
K-Water's global business department head emphasized the importance of international carbon reduction businesses as national core strategies for responding to climate crises. He expressed K-Water's commitment to playing a significant role in the international community by developing practical carbon reduction projects.
