ECB Announces Key Appointment

The European Central Bank (ECB) has made a significant addition to its leadership team. Isabel Vansteenkiste has been appointed as President Christine Lagarde's Principal Counsellor and Coordinator of the Counsel to the Executive Board, starting September 15.

Vansteenkiste's Previous Role

Before this promotion, Vansteenkiste served as the bank's International and European Relations Director General. Her predecessor, Roland Straub, is set to take on a new challenge as General Market Operations Deputy Director.

Lagarde's Statement

"I am very much looking forward to working with Isabel Vansteenkiste in her new role and would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Roland Straub for his hugely valuable contributions and unwavering commitment over many years, which I know will continue in his new role," Lagarde said in a statement.
