Vietnam's Pioneering Step Towards Green Energy
In a significant move towards sustainability, Vietnam is set to introduce E10 biofuel in three major cities starting August 1. This initiative marks the country's first step in transitioning to green fuel, with a nationwide rollout planned by 2026. E10 biofuel is heralded for its potential to reduce CO₂ emissions, boost domestic ethanol production, and diversify energy sources, gradually replacing conventional gasoline.
Leading Fuel Distributors Gear Up for E10 Rollout
Petrolimex and PVOIL, Vietnam's top fuel distributors, are at the forefront of this transition, with plans to fully implement E10 by August 2025. Petrolimex has upgraded its infrastructure in HCMC for the launch, while PVOIL targets Hanoi and Hai Phong as primary markets. The initial phase aims to familiarize consumers with E10, ensuring a smooth transition across the country.

Environmental and Economic Benefits
E10's lower cost and environmental advantages over traditional RON95 gasoline are expected to attract consumers. Vietnam's ethanol supply is under assessment to meet future demands, with six plants capable of producing up to 500,000 cubic meters annually. The country aims to rely solely on domestic production, creating a stable market for agricultural feedstocks like cassava and corn.
Vietnam's Commitment to Carbon Neutrality
This biofuel initiative aligns with Vietnam's ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, showcasing its commitment to sustainable development and environmental preservation.
