Taihan Cable & Solution Strengthens Subsea Cable Capabilities
In a strategic move to bolster its turnkey project competitiveness, Taihan Cable & Solution announced the acquisition of Ocean CNI, a leader in subsea cable construction. This acquisition, finalized on July 28, marks a significant step in enhancing Taihan's subsea cable engineering and construction capabilities.

About Ocean CNI
Established in 2008, Ocean CNI has carved a niche in subsea cable laying and engineering, with a portfolio that includes domestic and international projects such as the Southwest Sea Offshore Wind Project, Venezuela, and the Philippines. Their expertise extends to offshore construction, including subsea cable protection and maintenance operations.
Strategic Benefits of the Acquisition
This acquisition enables Taihan Cable & Solution to internalize subsea cable construction capabilities, covering the entire value chain from design to maintenance. Notably, Ocean CNI's experience with cable laying vessels will enhance the operational capabilities of Taihan's "Palos", Korea's first CLV cable laying vessel acquired in November 2023.
Future Prospects
With the completion of Dangjin Subsea Cable Plant 1 and the approval for Plant 2, Taihan is poised to aggressively pursue high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and turnkey projects. A company official highlighted the acquisition's role in advancing business capabilities and preparing for the "West Coast Energy Highway" project.
