Vietnamese Golden Lychees Make a Splash at Costco, Showcasing Vietnam's Agricultural Excellence

Vietnamese Lychees Debut at Costco

Costco, a retail giant with 635 stores across the U.S. and Canada, has begun offering Vietnamese lychees under the "Golden Lychees" brand. These lychees, grown in Vietnam to GlobalGAP standards, are imported by Dragonberry Produce, a leading U.S. premium produce importer.

Meeting U.S. Standards

After undergoing irradiation treatment in Vietnam to comply with U.S. plant quarantine regulations, the lychees were shipped by sea. This ensures both freshness and adherence to safety standards.

A Growing Market

This marks the third year Dragonberry Produce has introduced Vietnamese lychees to the U.S. market. The global lychee market is projected to reach $8.79 billion by 2028, driven by rising demand and increased production, especially in Asia.

Vietnam's Agricultural Potential

Dragonberry Produce's collaboration with Vietnamese cooperatives has standardized production processes, ensuring consistent quality. The company plans to expand imports to include other Vietnamese fruits, further boosting the country's fresh fruit exports.

Challenges and Opportunities

Vietnamese producers must meet strict international standards to enter foreign retail networks. Experts recommend adopting suitable technologies and embracing green transition models to align with global trade standards.
