White House Calls for Swift Action: Clearer Regulations on Digital Asset Trading Needed

Urgent Call for Digital Asset Market Clarity

The White House's Working Group on Digital Asset Markets has taken a significant step forward by issuing a new fact sheet this Wednesday. The document emphasizes the urgent need for federal regulators to develop a more transparent and efficient framework for digital asset trading.

Legislative and Regulatory Recommendations

Among its key recommendations, the group is pressing Congress to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Additionally, it urges the SEC and CFTC to expedite the process for digital asset trading at the federal level, advocating for the use of safe harbors to bypass unnecessary bureaucratic delays and foster innovation.

Enhancing Financial Sector Integration

The fact sheet also highlights the importance of the Treasury Department providing clearer guidelines under the Bank Secrecy Act to smooth the entry of digital assets into the banking sector. Moreover, it calls on the Treasury and IRS to clarify the rules surrounding the corporate alternative minimum tax as it applies to digital assets.
