
Retail Trade on the Rise
In a promising sign of economic resilience, Japan's retail trade experienced a 1% increase in June compared to the previous month, reaching a total of ¥13 trillion (~$87 billion). This data, released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Thursday, highlights a steady recovery in consumer spending.
Year-on-Year Growth
On an annual basis, the sales value saw a 2% uplift, with the total value of commercial sales hitting ¥52.0 trillion. Notably, there was a 1.7% increase in the volume of goods sold compared to June 2024, underscoring a positive trend in the retail sector.
Wholesale Industry Performance
The wholesale industry also reported growth, with the seasonally adjusted value of sales reaching ¥39 trillion. This marks a 1.7% year-on-year increase, further evidencing the broader economic upturn in Japan.
