Japan's Industrial Production Sees Significant Growth
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index in Japan witnessed a notable monthly increase of 1.7%, reaching 102.9 in June. This performance not only surpassed market expectations but also marked a 4% rise compared to the same month in 2024, according to the preliminary report released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on Thursday.
Shipments and Inventories Show Mixed Results
The shipments index experienced a slight decline of 0.8% month-on-month, settling at 101.4, yet it showed a positive year-on-year growth of 3.8%. On the other hand, the inventories index stood at 99.1, reflecting a decrease of 0.4% from the previous month and a more significant drop of 3.2% compared to June 2024.
Inventory Ratio Trends
The inventory ratio was recorded at 106.3, indicating an increase of 0.8% on a monthly basis but a decrease of 1.9% when compared annually.
