The Italian Producer Price Index (PPI) witnessed a notable increase of 2.5% in June 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) on Thursday. This marks a significant monthly climb of 1.5%.
Key Contributors to the Price Surge
Leading the year-on-year increase, the food, beverages, and tobacco sector saw a growth of 4.9% within the euro area. Similarly, wood, paper, and printing products experienced a 4% rise in the Eurozone. On the flip side, the coke and refined petroleum products sector recorded the largest decrease, with prices falling by 5.5% in the euro area.
