Renault Group Completes Acquisition of Nissan's Stake in Chennai Plant
Four months after announcing its intention, Renault Group has successfully acquired Nissan's 51% stake in RNAIPL, making it the sole owner of the Oragadam/Chennai facility. This move marks a significant step in Renault's strategy to accelerate its development in India.

François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, emphasized India's role as a key market and vital part of the company's global R&D footprint. With full ownership of the Chennai plant, Renault is now better positioned to implement its ambitious plans for the Indian market.
Future Plans and Production Capacity
The Chennai plant, operational since 2010, has produced over 2.8 million vehicles and 4.6 million engines and gearboxes. With an annual capacity of more than 400,000 vehicles, the plant is currently operating at nearly 50% capacity. Renault anticipates improved utilization as new models are introduced.
Renault's Global Strategy and India's Role
Renault Group views India as a crucial driver of its international expansion. The company is investing in new models and platforms, including the multi-energy modular platform, to strengthen its presence in India and globally.
