Strengthening Economic and Technological Partnerships
In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, South Korea and Vietnam have set an ambitious goal to achieve $150 billion in trade by 2030. President Lee Jae-myung highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in future industries, including AI and nuclear power, during a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

A Vision for Mutual Growth
Lee emphasized Vietnam's role as South Korea's third-largest trading partner and the largest investment destination, with around 10,000 Korean companies operating in Vietnam. The partnership aims to extend beyond quantitative growth to strategic areas like infrastructure, science and technology, and human resource development.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Aligning with Vietnam's national vision of reaching middle-high income status by 2030 and high-income status by 2045, South Korea pledges to support in infrastructure projects such as nuclear power and high-speed rail, alongside fostering advancements in science and technology.
Foundation of Strong Bilateral Relations
The robust economic cooperation is underpinned by active human and private exchanges, including 5 million annual visitors, 100,000 multicultural families, and 300,000 overseas Koreans. Lee announced plans to enhance support for Vietnamese workers and multicultural families, further strengthening the bilateral ties.

With a focus on qualitative advancement in future industries, South Korea and Vietnam are set to redefine their economic partnership, aiming to become the most trusted cooperation partners in the region.
