ACC Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun praised durian as the "king of tropical fruits," symbolizing the deepening China-ASEAN relations. He highlighted agricultural cooperation as a key focus for both regions.
Strengthening Trade Ties
With ASEAN as China's largest trading partner for five years and China leading for 16 years in ASEAN, bilateral trade hit CNY6.99 trillion in 2024. Agricultural products, making up nearly 10%, are on the rise.
ASEAN fruits such as durian and dragon fruit have won Chinese hearts, thanks to efficient customs and competitive pricing. Conversely, Chinese agricultural tech is aiding ASEAN's farming sector.
Vietnam's Ambition in the Chinese Market
Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh emphasized durian's growing popularity in China, viewing the festival as a chance to introduce premium Vietnamese durian to a broader audience and share market expansion strategies within ASEAN-China cooperation.
