Eurozone's Industrial Output Declines in June

According to the latest report from Eurostat, the seasonally adjusted industrial production in the euro area experienced a 1.3% decrease in June compared to May. This downturn reflects broader economic challenges within the region.

EU-Wide Industrial Production Trends

The entire European Union wasn't spared, with a monthly decline of 1%. However, on an annual basis, there was a slight silver lining with industrial output increasing by 0.2% in the Eurozone and 0.5% across the EU.

Sector-Specific Performance

The production of intermediate goods, capital goods, and consumer goods saw varied declines, while the energy sector bucked the trend with a significant jump. Specifically, energy production rose by 2.9% in the euro area and 2.7% in the EU.

Member States Most Affected

Ireland, Portugal, and Lithuania were among the hardest hit, with Ireland leading the downturn with an 11.3% decrease in industrial production.
