India and ASEAN Trade Talks to Focus on $123 Billion Bilateral Trade

The next round of negotiations to review the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) is scheduled for October 6-7, 2025, at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hosted by Malaysia, this meeting aims to enhance the agreement's effectiveness, improve market access, and strengthen trade facilitation.

Strengthening India-Singapore Economic Ties

In a related development, the fourth meeting of the India-Singapore Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment (JWGTI) took place in New Delhi on August 14. Discussions focused on priority sectors for alignment, improving logistics and supply chains, and facilitating cross-border trade.

Singapore remains India’s largest ASEAN trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $34.26 billion in 2024-25. It is also the second-largest source of foreign direct investment into India, highlighting the deepening economic ties between the two nations.
