Exclusive: President Trump Announces Upcoming Tariffs on Steel and Semiconductors to Boost Domestic Industry

Trump's Bold Move on Tariffs

In a surprising announcement aboard Air Force One, United States President Donald Trump revealed plans to introduce new tariffs on steel and semiconductors as early as next week. This strategic decision aims to protect and stimulate the domestic manufacturing sector.

Details of the Proposed Tariffs

"I haven't even set some of the tariffs yet. I'll be setting tariffs next week and the week after on steel and I would say chips and semiconductors," Trump stated. He further explained, "We are gonna have a rate that's gonna be lower at the beginning and that gives them a chance to come in and build."

Previous Statements on Tariffs

This isn't the first time Trump has targeted these industries. He has previously proposed raising import duties on steel to 50% and imposing a staggering 100% tariff on foreign computer chips, signaling a strong stance on protecting American interests.
