Explosion at US Steel Clairton Coke Works

Preliminary findings indicate that a failed gas valve during maintenance preparations led to the explosion at the US Steel Clairton Coke Works in Pennsylvania. According to Amanda Malkowski, a spokeswoman for US Steel, the valve failure allowed coke oven gas to accumulate and ignite.

The explosion is believed to have occurred due to pressure buildup inside the valve, causing it to fail. Malkowski emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, with officials reviewing video footage and employee accounts to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
