Year-on-Year Comparison Reveals Mixed Results

While the number of unemployed German residents saw a monthly decrease of 36,000, it also experienced an annual increase of 182,000, totaling 2.9 million in April. Seasonally adjusted figures indicate a minor uptick of 4,000 unemployed individuals from the previous month.

Underemployment Rate Offers Broader Perspective

The underemployment rate, encompassing individuals in labor market policies and those temporarily unable to work, was recorded at 7.7% or 3.6 million people. This represents a monthly decrease of 53,000 but an annual rise of 69,000, highlighting the complex dynamics of Germany's labor market.
