Germany's Inflation Rate Shows a Slight Decrease

The annual inflation rate in Germany edged down to 2.1% in April, a minor decrease from the 2.2% recorded in March, according to preliminary data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a month-on-month increase of 0.4%.

Core Inflation and Sector-Specific Trends

Excluding food and energy, the annual core inflation rate was reported at 2.9%. Notably, food prices experienced a 2.8% year-on-year increase, whereas energy prices dropped by 5.4%.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) Insights

The HICP showed an annual rise of 2.2% and a monthly increase of 0.5%, providing a broader perspective on inflation trends within the country.
